What is the 4-H Emblem and how may it be used?

4-H Emblem

The Official 4-H Emblem

Your team's insignia should always include the official 4-H emblem, a clover with four leaves and an "H" on each leaf. Make sure the clover's stem points to the right as you look at the image. Do NOT use a plain leaf clover to represent the 4-H clover. Never alter the shape of the 4-H clover or cover any portion with writing or images.

We encourage printing of the 4-H Emblem in green with white letters. The code "18 USC 707" must appear along the outside of the lower right leaf. There are Federal Guidelines that outline exceptions to this design. A quick reference on the use of the 4-H Name and Emblem is available from the National 4-H headquarters.

The 4-H Emblem...your club's seal of excellence and a proud American mark recognized world-wide.

The 4-H emblem is a highly valued mark within our country's history. As such it was granted a very unique status; it is in a category similar to the Presidential Seal and the Olympic emblem. It is protected by the federal government and is under the responsibility and stewardship of the Secretary of Agriculture. The "18 USC 707" marking that appears along the right lower leaf is coding that protects the use of the clover. The Official 4-H Emblem may be downloaded in color, black and white or as an outline. Contact your County Extension Educator with questions concerning the use of the 4-H Emblem for 4-H team clothing, promotional materials, and other uses.

What is the 4-H Motto?

"To Make the Best Better"

The 4-H Motto refers to each member. It means that each club member will do the “best” that he/she possible can in whatever is attempted.   The member will then strive to improve the next time so his or her initial “Best” becomes “Better”. The 4-H motto encourages members to stretch their abilities and capacities to reach greater achievement within their own potential.
